Structural Engineering Project -
Eagle High School
 |
EAGLE HIGH SCHOOL is a 252,000 sf structure designed by a joint-venture of two local architectural firms, LEATHAM-KROHN-VAN OCKER ARCHITECTS and HUMMEL ARCHITECTS, P.A.; Wayne Thowless and Skyler Rubel, respectively, were the lead architects for their companies.
The project was built on a tight budget, with a very short design window. We were able to complete construction on time, and substantially under the $14,000,000 projected cost. |
High-strength concrete masonry walls were used in the school's construction. The floor system consists of a slab over steel form deck supported by open web steel joists and steel girders. The roof system is a steel deck supported on open web steel joists.
Interesting design features include a community auditorium with articulated wall and ceiling panels for sound control, a 30,000 sf gymnasium with 44-ft CMU walls, and raised practice floors at each end of the main playing floor. |
